T.A. Akhmetov


Timur A. Akhmetov is the head of the steel cord and steel wire production laboratory at the Research Center of the Belarussian Steel Works (BMZ).

He is responsible for the research and development of technology for steel wire and steel cord production, reinforcing cold formed wire, and steel fiber.

Akhmetov holds an engineering degree in material processing and a master’s of engineering degree both from the Sukhoi State Technical University of Gomel. He pursued postgraduate studies in materials science and in 2015 he was qualified as a researcher in the field of technical sciences from the Metal Polymer Research Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

His work has been published in more than 30 scientific journals. He holds five patents; has applied for an additional patent, and has several innovation proposals. In 2013 he received a grant from the President of the Republic of Belarus for talented young scientists. Other career achievements include taking 2nd place in a Republican contest of innovative projects of State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus in 2015. In 2013 and 2014 he won awards from the Association of Foundrymen and Metallurgists in the Belarus Republic for the best research and production work of young engineers. Akhmetov also participates in several international scientific conferences.
